志岐インテリア工業は、源流を船大工にもつ、昭和33年創業の家具メーカーです。志岐直樹社長は2代目ですが、一度は商社に入り、別の道を志したそうです。その時に、「修行のつもりで商社に入ったんですか？」と伺ったところ、「その会社で社長になるつもりだった」と即答されたので、志岐社長の経営者マインドは若い頃から存在したのだと感じました。
29歳のときに会社を継ぎ、志岐木工所を改め、志岐インテリア工業を設立します。商社での経験は相当ハードなものだったと語ってくれましたが、家具業界以外を経験されたことが、商品企画にも活きているように感じました。そんな中、ある素材がアイデアマンでもある志岐社長のアンテナに反応します。
それが、ニッポネアでも活用している「突板ガラス」という素材・技術です。この素材を見たときに、赤外線が通るかどうか？という挑戦にいたったのが、志岐インテリアのターニングポイントの一つとなります。外見は天然木なのに、扉を閉じたまま、リモコン操作が可能という機能は、日本で初めて志岐インテリアが生み出しました。今でこそ、様々な工場で生産されていますが、パイオニアであるが故の苦労もあったようです。ある一つの工程によっては、赤外線を通さないこともあり、試行錯誤を繰り返しました。結局、商品化するまでには1年以上の期間を要したそうです。
こういった挑戦する姿勢を影で支えるのが、飯田工場長です。入社9年目になる飯田さんは、もともとはデザインを学び、それを活かすために入社しました。今となっては製造現場のほうが楽しくなってしまったとのことです。ＮＣ工作機を操り、様々な企画を商品化してくれます。工場長とはいえ、年齢的には先輩の方も多い中、現場を取り仕切るのは、とても大変そうです。しかし、常に新しい発想で攻めていく企画についてこれる、現場の長として無くては成らない存在になっています。この工場が特に秀逸なのは仕上げ、素材の時点から良質なものにこだわり最後は手作業で目だけではわからない部分を、
きれいに仕上げていきます。ブック張りや留めの技術は手間がかかりすぎるため、大量生産には向かない構造です。高い意匠性と、常に新しいことにチャレンジする商品は、ニッポネアの要になっています。

Although the appearance is natural wood, the function that remote control can be performed with the door closed was created for the first time in Japan by Shiki Interior.Now they are also produced in other factories, but since they are pioneers, they have had difficulty in manufacturing.There was also a failure by only one process.
